Lighting The Way by Gidget Giardino

Light houses have enjoyed an almost three hundred year era of guiding ships safely along their seafaring voyages. Every lighthouse had a keeper whose responsiblity it was to keep the fiery light of the beacon burning bright. The houses were built along shipping lanes as well as other heavily-traveled areas of the oceans and the seas. Their sole purpose was to assist the captains and the crewman of passing ships to aid them in figuring out their locations. The lighthouses also helped to warn the ships' crews of impending dangers such as coral reefs, etc.

For hundreds of years, lighthouses have provided guidance and direction - a point of light in a time of need, a beacon of help and hope.

There will come a time in your life when you will be searching for something more for yourself and your family. When you find yourself there, it is my hope you will look to me. My beaming support shines brightly on everyone I meet. Let me light the path to your success.

Santa Mail

Make Wishes Come True

You can help Santa grant special wishes this holiday season just by writing him a letter.

This year you can bring a smile to the face of a child with a life-threatening medical condition by writing a letter to Santa. Go into any Macy's store before December 25th and write a letter to Santa at the Believe Station or drop off a stamped letter addressed to Santa. For each letter mailed at Macy's, the famous department store will donate a dollar, up to $1 million, to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. You can download a template at www.macys.com/believe or write one of your own.

Macy's Believe Campaign is inspired by The New York Sun's famous "Yes, Virginia, There Is a Santa Claus" editorial from 1897, in reply to a little girl's question about Santa's existence. "Yes, Virginia", an animated television special about this heartwarming holiday story, is now available as a DVD and a children's book. 10% of the purchase price of those sold at Macy's will also be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Christmas is a time to be joyful and spread peace and love to all. So, this holiday season, while you are rushing around preparing for your own special festivities, stop by Macy's Believe Station and write a letter to Santa. Every dollar counts.

You Are Not Dead Yet. by Gidget Giardino

Remember being a little kid. It was Saturday morning that thrilled us. We'd jump out of bed and run to the television (they were HUGE back then) and put on cartoons. Saturday was the only day of the week they were on and it was only on in the morning. We would not miss them for the world!

Now, jump ahead in time to present day and think about how different it is. You can literally find cartoons on any hour of the day or night with cable, satellite or Internet. We are in an age of instant gratification. It is exciting! No longer do you have to wait to watch cartoons. In that same sense most people can have what ever they want because technology, innovation and willpower have given us so much freedom.

The question of the day is: What have you done with your freedom?

Today you can decide to go out and watch a movie, or visit with friends, or stay in bed, or just about anything else you could think of. But did you? Today you can decide to become a millionaire, or end world hunger, or change a persons life for the better. But will you?

When you were a kid you had big dreams. Did you make your dreams come true? You know, the dreams you had when you were a kid running for the TV on Saturday morning? The majority of you will answer this question with a big fat NO. The thing about it is, it doesn't matter if you didn't make your dreams come true. Because you are not dead. You just haven't made your dreams come true. YET!
